Spring rain

For those who work on and live off the land, rain in Spring is one of life’s great blessings.

Downpours at this time of year augur well for all born into it. Rain now helps new life survive to flourish through the long dry Summer.

In the garden, exquisitely curled buds are starting to show their colours. I love how globules of moisture encase them, as if wrapping them in bubbles.

Daffodils and snow flakes droop under the weight of the night’s bounty and a chance brush with a wattle branch sends droplets flying.

Squelching over the soggy lawn I relish the scent of saturated earth, taking delight in all that the rain has wrought.
