About
I’m a freelance writer living near Daylesford, in Central Victoria, where I live with the love of my life.
My first properly paid writing job was supplying voice-over copy to accompany the glass slides that once passed for cinema advertising. That was in the time before personal computers, mobile phones or digital anything.
After that, I worked in advertising agencies.
Since my partner and I moved south, I’ve publicised community festivals, organised a State-wide poetry competition, mentored high-school students and despatched scores of media releases on everything from flower shows to nutritional supplements.
I’ve written website content for a food and wine producers’ group, compiled real estate guides, edited and re-written a submission for the Victorian Tourism Awards and scripted a couple of town-hall concerts, complete with mayoral speeches. I’ve also written a radio play, planted vegies, cleaned holiday cottages, picked grapes and driven a delivery van.
In the country it pays to be versatile.
